Mauritius as Your Platform

The Strategic & Tax
Advantages of Mauritius

Mauritius has established itself as one of the world's premier international financial and business centres — consistently ranked among the top jurisdictions in Africa for ease of doing business, investor protection and regulatory quality. For international companies, it offers a compelling combination of tax efficiency, legal certainty and operational excellence.

Outsourcing your finance, HR and administrative functions to Axiom in Mauritius delivers not only significant cost savings — it places your operations within a jurisdiction that actively supports international business, with a government-backed commitment to financial services as a strategic pillar of the economy.

The advantages are not theoretical — they are the same ones that have made Mauritius the preferred routing and operating jurisdiction for thousands of international businesses, from private equity funds and family offices to listed multinationals and growing SMEs.

46+ Double Taxation Agreements

Mauritius has concluded tax treaties with over 46 countries — providing businesses with certainty on cross-border taxation and enabling significant reductions in withholding tax on dividends, interest and royalties. Key treaty partners include:

IndiaSouth AfricaFrance United KingdomChinaLuxembourg KenyaRwandaMozambique SingaporeUAEPakistan

Low Corporate Tax — From 3%

Standard rate of 15% — one of the most competitive globally. Global Business Companies benefit from a partial exemption regime, reducing the effective rate to as low as 3% on qualifying income.

No Capital Gains Tax

Mauritius levies no capital gains tax. Gains on disposal of shares or investments by a resident entity are not taxed in Mauritius — a decisive advantage for holding and investment structures.

Efficient Dividend Repatriation

Dividends paid out of Mauritius are generally not subject to withholding tax (subject to applicable conditions), enabling highly efficient repatriation of profits for international investors.

Gateway to Africa — AGOA, COMESA, AfCFTA

Mauritius provides preferential access to the US market under AGOA and is a member of COMESA, SADC and the African Continental Free Trade Area — unrivalled market access across Africa and beyond.

Robust Legal & Regulatory Framework

An English-based legal system, independent judiciary and a well-regarded FSC give international investors confidence, legal certainty and effective dispute resolution for their Mauritius operations.

Significant Cost Advantage

Operating costs are substantially lower than in major Western financial centres, while maintaining internationally qualified, professionally certified expertise — delivering exceptional value for outsourced functions.

The Process

Your Complete Acquisition
Journey — Step by Step

Axiom manages the entire process on your behalf — every step below is handled by our team, coordinating with notaries, banks, the EDB, CBRIS and all relevant authorities. You make the decisions; we do the work.

Step 1: Discovery & Property Search

We begin with a confidential consultation to understand your goals, budget, lifestyle preferences and investment objectives. Based on this, we identify the most suitable properties and schemes — saving you months of research and protecting you from ineligible listings.

As a foreign buyer, you cannot simply purchase any property in Mauritius. Since the Finance Act 2025, foreign acquisition is strictly limited to government-approved schemes (IRS, PDS, RES, SCS, IHS, G+2). We verify eligibility before you commit a single rupee.

⚠️ Critical 2025/2026 Update

The Finance Act 2025 removed the former USD 500,000 threshold that allowed foreigners to buy property outside approved schemes. Foreign buyers are now strictly limited to approved schemes only. Registration duty for non-citizens has increased from 5% to 10% effective July 2026. We keep you compliant with all current rules.

Initial Consultation

Confidential discussion of your goals, budget (MUR or foreign currency), preferred location and timeline — individual or corporate acquisition.

Scheme Eligibility Assessment

We assess which approved schemes (IRS, PDS, RES, SCS, G+2, IHS) match your profile, budget and residency objectives.

Property Search & Shortlist

Working with our trusted network of promoters, developers and estate agents, we identify eligible properties and present a curated shortlist.

Site Visits & Due Diligence

We coordinate viewings, verify EDB approval status, check title deeds, inspect planning permissions and confirm eligibility for foreign acquisition.

Price Negotiation Support

We advise on market pricing and support you in negotiating the best terms — including payment schedule, completion date and inclusions.
